In A Dark Alley
Work on In A Dark Alley began on 25 January 2025 after the author decided to set aside an earlier fiction project and follow a new story. What began as one series steadily grew into the wider Alderwick Universe: an interconnected, multi-generational setting in which families, businesses, Great Houses, governments, friendships, rivalries and ordinary lives continue to change long after the earliest events.
The series is deliberately open-ended. There is no fixed final book count. Later stories may move far beyond the original characters while preserving the history and consequences that came before them. Publication details, reading order and official release information will be added here as individual books become ready for readers.
About Nathan Ardwell
Nathan Ardwell writes fiction built around characters who live with the consequences of difficult choices. The stories move through family life, business, institutions, conflict, mystery and speculative elements while leaving room for quieter moments and ordinary people whose lives matter even when they are nowhere near the centre of a crisis.
Why a pen name?
Nathan Ardwell is the pen name of the human author. The author is Canadian and a veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces. He chose to publish fiction under a pen name to protect his personal and family privacy. He places a high value on that privacy and prefers the books, their characters and the Alderwick Universe to remain the public focus.
